Salt Body Scrub for The Shower

There is an exfoliating  treatment in the Spa that is referred to by many names.

The basic salt scrub is one of the most luxurious body treatments you can experience. It's simplicity of ingredients being made up of salt and a little liquid coconut  oil.  It can be an elegant formula by adding fragrant essential oils blended with a mixture of various salts or carrier oils with a delicate added touch of lavender buds or rose petals.

Whatever the  name, whether body polish, salt glow, body scrub, they have the same  outcome, the sloughing away of dead skin cells and other impurities.

Just a few years ago, or maybe a couple of decades) I was so lucky to be part of a Professional Spa Education Team for Armstrong McCall. We developed new treatments and protocols for the, then emerging , DaySpas. It was a tedious job and I never declined the opportunity  to receive the salt glows, body polish and body scrub  treatments blended with the aromatic scents of high quality essential oils. Our team subjected ourselves to these life enhancing treatments for testing purposes, of course.

The scrubs encourage circulation and a little detoxification. Exfoliated skin is better able to receive the benefits of active organic ingredients and essential oils  in serums and lotions.

The fragrant steam from the  Hydrocollators filled the treatment rooms with exotic oils. The salts were lightly massaged onto our skin. The steamed towels were then gently wrapped over the salts and the moisture melted the salts into our skin. Talk about a tough job.

Kathy, a long time client and dear friend, contacted me. She really wanted to use the salts but did not want to use them in the bath. I immediately shared with her the do-it-yourself shower scrubs we used to make in the studio and at Armstrong McCall. I think she was happy!!

Taking a long  soak in a bath filled with essential oils blended in bath salts sounds divine. Sometimes time is not exactly on your side.

But you can still have a great exfoliating experience in the shower.

Exfoliating your skin can help increase your circulation and bring a glow to your skin as it sloughs off dead skin cells. This body treatment can HELP you feel rejuvenated and revitalized.

I encourage you to look into your self-care budget and make an appointment at your Dayspa to receive a nourishing salt glow treatment.
