Three Winter Solstice Spa Rituals
Release your stress; rejuvenate your mind with an indulging home spa therapy...
Thank you to SteffaniePinner.com for the lovely Photography.
The enchanting Winter Solstice is an astronomical phenomenon marking it the longest night of the year. Traditionally, it is midwinter in the northern hemisphere where food has been harvested and stored for the long cold winter months ahead. Survival depended on prayers, community and well planned preparations.
We bring these customs into our lives in the present times through time honored family and cultural traditions.
Even though the energy may sometimes be frenetic, it is enhanced with the spirit of peace, love and light. The light of new beginnings. The light that will bring warmth and brighten our future days.
Perhaps there is a tiny bit of over-indulgence during the holiday season that may leave you feeling fatigued. The magical Winter Solstice is a most excellent time to balance that polarity and indulge in the sacred art of self care.
During this season of gifting and gratitude taking care of everyone around you requires rejuvenating and continually restoring your own vitality.
The body is a sacred vessel containing the essence of our timeless spirit. Taking a little time to honor our bodies with vintage therapies of herbs, essential oils, smudges and spiritual bathing, whispers messages of self love to our sub-conscious. The loving and caring for others, flows more effortlessly when we replenish ourselves first.
Winter Solstice is a time to embrace the quiet times in the Northern hemisphere. Nature's dormancy causes us to get cozy by a fireplace or candlelight and withdraw from the harshness of the cold and spend more time within the walls of our sacred homes.
Rejuvenate the body and calm your mind with a few of our Vintage Spa therapies that you can do at home.

Winter Solstice Spa Rituals
Warming Detoxifying Crystal Bath
Blended with love from the winter evergreens, Rosemary, Pine, Bay, Cedar or Juniper oils balanced with the pleasant Lavender oil will take you through a euphoric journey in the privacy of your own bathtub. Remember to add a drop or two of the emerging light of orange and lemon oils, for after this long Solstice night the light of the Sun will ever so gently increase. Orange and Lemon recognize the importance of the sun and the energy it brings forward.
Blending a few of these essential oils or herbs together will help you balance your emotions, increase deep breathing and increase your circulation.
Add a gorgeous labradorite crystal pillar in the corner of your bathroom to help you embrace your future of new beginnings. Generate self love by placing a rose quartz palmstone in the bath with you.
When using essential oils only add a total of 5-8 drops to your bath.
Pick up some pine branches from your Christmas Tree Lot. They are usually happy to have you take some away. It saves them from cleanup and from burning the excess branches. I usually donate a child's gift in their name as thanks for giving me the pine. Add sprigs of pine around your tub where you are able to. Be extra careful that the flames of your candles to not come near the flammable branches. If you are more comfortable use battery operated candles. You can always light a "mother " candle safely away from the pine.

Ginger Lemon Tea Ceremony
In aromatherapy, ginger is an oil that lifts the spirits and promotes the feeling of gratitude and deep appreciation for the moments you experience now and in the past. Lemon brings joy into your life and removes negativity.
Light a golden candle to guide you to the warmth of your near future. Allow the comforting flicker of the flame to help you wind down knowing that the magic of winter is allowing you the time to rest and rejuvenate.
Sipping this tasty refreshment by candle light while writing in your gratitude journal can bring you to a sacred space of contentment.
Combine the ginger, cinnamon sticks, lemon slices, rosemary sprigs and the cloves in a saucepan with 2 cups of water...

Spend Time With Pine
Those of us that are fortunate enough to live near the thousands of acres of Christmas Tree farms in the mountains of North Carolina may want to bundle up and slip quietly into this mystical woodland in search of the perfect tree. Listen to them speak softly to you about the blessings in your life.
Visiting a Christmas tree lot has its own soothing magic, also. The scent of pine fills you with the energy of nature. It helps you feel the enthusiasm for this season of joy filled festivities.
Bringing pine into your home to adorn your mantles, bookshelves or simply place the pine branches in vases of water to bring the powerful elements of the evergreen into your home.
I came across the most intriguing bit of information about the the short needle pine trees when studying the healing powers of aromatic plants. The short pine needles are believed to increase your intuition when touching them while requesting guidance in your life. Be sure to save a few branches to dry for use in potpourri to dispel negative energy throughout the year.
Whether you choose to use the branches or the highly concentrated essential oil, pine will energize you when you are feeling depleted. It helps to purify and deodorizer the air leaving your home healthier and happier.
Wishing your blessings for an absolutely gorgeous Winter Solstice filled with peace and a bright prosperous future.
